Can't use MT4 Portable with Tickstory

Hello,

I've followed the instructions in the thread below to try and point Tickstory to an MT4 portable installation directory, but the settings don't work. The installation folder changes fine in the settings but when I try changing the data folder, the settings reset and don't work. Tried deleting the data folder in %appdata% but when I do that Tickstory wouldn't even allow me to set the installation directory to the portable version.

This is the thread I followed:

However, once I run MT4 once without the /portable parameter then try to point Tickstory to the portable installation directory, it works but does not allow me to change the data directory.

Thanks for the information. It's likely that there is some residual configuration from MT4 that is causing the confusion. If you have fully deleted the %app data% folder then this should theoretically resolve it, however you should confirm that your MT4 is actually running in portable mode by verifying the folder when you do File->Open Data Folder in Metatrader.

To circumvent the necessity for further trouble-shooting, you can force the setting in Tickstory, by following the steps outlined here to edit the configuration file manually. Your "BaseDataDir" should be set to the same as your "Mt4InstallDir".

This should resolve the issue for you.
